About the ministry
About Mission: Apologetics & Biblical Counseling
Two missions under one roof — defending the faith before a questioning world, and walking with people through the most difficult seasons of life.
Scott & Judy Weckerly
Mission: Apologetics & Biblical Counseling is the shared ministry of Scott and Judy Weckerly. It rests on the conviction that Scripture is true, and that it is sufficient for the whole of life — the questions of the mind and the struggles of the heart alike.
“His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence.” 2 Peter 1:3
Apologetics & Speaking
Helping Others Be Confident
Scott received Christ as his Lord and Savior as a child, but in junior high and high school Scott began wondering how the Bible fit with things like science, history, and philosophy. His prayer was similar to the father in Mark 9:24, who said, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief.” Scott’s search for answers started with the writings of Josh McDowell and C. S. Lewis; then in college Scott was introduced to the Institute for Creation Research (ICR) and other creation science ministries.
After college Scott moved to Nashville and continued to study while teaching life groups and Bible studies in his home church and in his home. When he began having a burden to teach others that the Bible is the ultimate standard and foundation for a biblical worldview, he attended the Creation Apologetics Teachers College. This training gave him opportunities to speak around the United States to teachers, youth groups, college students, and congregations. His teaching is founded on his desire for others to strengthen their own faith and have the confidence to explain and defend their faith to others.
Scott wants to help believers know what they believe, why they believe it, and how to communicate it effectively to others.
Scott is also passionate and gifted in music
Scott began playing drums in grade school, earned a Jazz Performance degree from the University of North Texas, and spent two years traveling with a Christian music ministry that presented evangelistic concerts at churches, schools, and conferences. After moving to Nashville, he worked as a full-time professional musician for more than 26 years in big-band jazz, country, rock, and other styles, and was Ray Stevens’ drummer until Ray retired in 2025. Scott left full-time performing so he could devote more time to teaching and equipping believers.
That experience still shapes the way he teaches. He uses humor, audience participation, and simple, repeatable questions to make complex ideas understandable for everyday believers.
Biblical Counseling
Helping Others Stand Firm
Judy began following Christ as her Lord and Savior while in high school. While in college she discipled numerous women and attended several biblical training conferences. Judy has always had a love for discipling others, whether formal or informal. When a pastor friend saw Judy’s desire to help others grow in their faith through the struggles of life, he encouraged her to pursue certification in biblical counseling. Judy spent five years taking biblical counseling classes before completing her certification requirements through the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC).
Today, she counsels with a clear conviction: God’s Word equips us with everything we need for life and godliness no matter what struggles we encounter (2 Peter 1:3). With God’s Word as the authority, Judy listens to understand the struggles people have and points them toward God’s solutions. Her primary focus is women, but she also co-counsels couples with her husband Scott. She walks with people through anxiety, shame, relationship difficulties, anger, and other difficult seasons — listening carefully and bringing biblical direction to real life.
Judy wants those she counsels to know they do not have to carry their burdens alone. Her goals are biblically sound: to stand firm in God’s Word, grow in the knowledge and grace of Jesus Christ, and depend on the Holy Spirit. This leads to heart change, spiritual growth, and lasting hope.
Judy is also passionate and gifted in gymnastics
Judy was a competitive gymnast in Palatine, IL, and Charleston, WV. While in college she traveled and performed with the evangelistic Athletes in Action gymnastics team, which opened the door to coaching gymnastics full-time in Nashville, TN. Her gymnastics journey took her from competing, to performing, to coaching, and to training others how to coach. Throughout her gymnastics journey she learned how to persevere by standing firm in God’s Word. Judy knows that just as it takes time and determination to learn a new gymnastics skill, it also takes time and perseverance to grow spiritually through the struggles in life. Judy will come alongside you, through one-on-one discipleship in biblical counseling, so you don’t have to bear your burden alone.
A shared life behind the ministry
Judy and Scott have built their life and ministry together and are the parents of three grown daughters. Their work takes different forms, but both serve from the same confidence in the truth and sufficiency of God’s Word.
